nobody heeded her
nobody helped
sharks and lions on her trail
all brandishing teeth like daggers
trolls and demons lurking in shadows
"Go to bed," they said
she knew better
in sleep were dangers
death and torture
fangs and claws
she cried miserably
"hysterics," they said
nothing could save her
except growing up
becoming blind like them
