When days are all but like a dream
and its time to go to first to school ,
you leave your Mum and Dad at home
and learn to be nobody's fool .
First you learn ABC
and then you learn to count from one to three ,
and before you know it life has begun ,
like a party all for free .
Schools out and you're out of class
and life is really moving along .
Life is like a merry-go-round ,
spinning fast but you're holding on .
A new year comes and you're back in school
with new friends beside you there .
The teacher shouts ,
"Don't you be nobody's fool "
You answer ,
Yes sir .
Then as another year passes
you start to get some commonsense ,
You learn how to play ball
and how to fix the neighbours broken fence .
Holidays are different
and you find new people and new places .
Then in the new year you return back
to the same old school faces .
Then at your last year in primary school
you think I don't want to leave .
But all your friends will be there with you
so there is no need to grieve .
Its hard when you're growing up
with all those lessons you've understood .
You try not to get picked on by the bully's
in your neighbourhood .
When the new year comes you know its time to go ,
but what if you don't .
What if you said no I'm not going ,.
Maybe so and then you won't .
Maybe the principal won't know
and you could hide away for years .
Then you remember you're nobody's fool
and wipe away those tears .
So you try to be positive
and take a new grown up approach .
Walking out with your head held high
and think about what matters most .
Its another new year
and you've got a whole life ahead of you .
Remember you're nobody's fool ok ,
and that will get you through .
