Listing Fact In Beijing : Sports Poetry

Using poetic licence I am going to portray   

Face the Facts – Beijing 2008   .

So what was it all about .

Did you see the event .

Where did it take place .

Let me communicate .

The games had come to Beijing where 11 million people already live there in a small space .

Amid smog and heavy security everything was ready for the eyes of the human race .

The first gold medal in Beijing had the name of Czech shooter Katerina Emmons written on it ,

The last  gold medal in Beijing saw a French handball team defeat Iceland there wasn't much in  it .

16 weeks between the first and last saw 

10,708 atheletes compete .

 A total of 302 gold medals were won and their names  counted among the elite  .

 5,600 official writers and photographers were there to share moments and views  .

12,000 official broadcasters fed the hungry inquisitors at home  who awaited news  .

 There were 31 competition venues in Beijing

and 6 more venues were  outside  Beijing  .

70,000 volunteers helped out .

28 sports saw everything from archery to wrestling .

The Co-Host cities had sailing in Quindao,

While Hong Kong held all the equestrian events .

Tianjin, Shenyang , Qinhuangdao and Shanghai held all the  football matches.

It was tight and tense .

From day 1 on the 8^th of the 8^th 2008 ,

To the end on the 24^th August .

The world was treated to the best of the best .
