Christmas In A War Zone : Christmas Poetry

Spending Christmas in a war zone

is not my idea of  fun.

I've been busy keeping peace round here

 but no one cares for me ,

So I'm hoping there maybe an end

 to this hostility  .

I'm thinking of the old folks

 and of the little ones as well .

I'm sitting here in a dug out

that I call a living hell .

It's hot as hell this Christmas

 and Santa is in a disguise.

All the reindeers have gone AWOL

and sure that is no surprise .

If I could be a bird I would fly far away

from this place,
but from this hole I cannot fly,
I just stare out into space .

Santa all I want for Christmas

 is some peace so I could be ,

part of the tradition that makes up

the human family.
