OLD FRIENDS
Old friends are tough to find
But if you’re lucky and ya’ do
They’ll always be there with a word
Whether rough, or kind, or true
They’ll look at ya’ funny sometimes
Kinda’ like they want to say
Hey, ya’ stinkin’ knot head
You’re goin’ the wrong derned way
They’ll laugh at ya’ and tease ya’
Whenever they think they can
But ya’ know they’ll always be there
Whether ya’ need a swift kick or just a helpin’ hand
Old friends ain’t always old
As some folks might expect
Sometimes they’re kinda young
Others, well, they’re oldern’ heck
Some friends will come and some will go
But you’ll find out in the end
Old friends are always there with ya’
Through thick, and through thin
Old friends they may tend to argue
They may even growl and yell
They may cuss and they may fight
And even put each other through holy hell
But they know each other’s heart
No matter how tough or how hard
They understand each other well ya’ see
‘cause they got similar cuts and scars
We’re old friends you and me
We’ve been friends for a while
And I expect we always will be
Just so as to meddle each other and smile
So if ya’ ever need some help
I’ll be glad to lend a hand
I’ll always try hard to be there
At least I’ll do whatever I can
I can run ya’ to the store
Or just go get coffee in a cup
Just climb in this danged old buggy
