Knights
So Bold
In days of yore
When dragons did fly
Knights upon horses
Lances held high
How far would they ride
This quest could cost lives
For the head of a dragon
What an honorable prize
The ladies in waiting
The horizon they seek
For a glimpse of their heroes
Coming home on their steeds
Riding in from their victory
So handsome and straight
Heads held up high
Their ladies can’t wait
Climbing down from their mounts
Armor shining in the sun
Reunited with their loves
Another battle won
From those days to now
Some things haven’t changed
The dragons are gone
But the battles still rage
Our troops ride away
Now on winged mounts
Going off to new perils
It seems without count
Their ladies still wait
The horizon they scan
Is their hero coming home
Will he be the same man
At last it appears
With gossamer wings
The heroes are home
Hearts start to sing
These knights now dismount
From their shiny flying steeds
The ladies run to meet them
Their heroes they need
Swept from their feet
Fair ladies swing round
Elation with abandon
Love does abound
Home once again
To their ladies so fair
With love in their hearts
Devil may care
The dragon is slain
The heroes have won
Some say chivalry is dead
I don’t think so my son
