Window Wonderland : Holiday Poetry

written by Poet : Cheylinn1

Mechanical figures skated in circles,

in the department store window,

while carolers sang holiday songs,

and colored lights glowed in the snow

In the next window a rotund Santa

getting ready for his special night;

with elves loading Santa's sleigh,

Rudolph and the gang ready for flight.

The next window beheld sugar plum fairies

and candy canes of red and white;

a working train, Santa's Express,

chugged around the tree to the children's delight.

I remember those jaunts down city sidewalks,

store windows dressed in holiday cheer;

viewed as magical through a child's eyes,

all precious memories of moments held dear.
