Christmas Is Near
The holiday season is around the corner,
already the stores are filled with merchandise;
special sales to tempt Christmas shoppers,
toys and jewels at a special price.
The store shelves are filled with Christmas cards,
for people to send to those held dear;
while credit card companies are preparing,
for the onslaught of purchases made each year.
In the center court of the shopping malls,
Salvation Army kettles are placed for their cause;
as Christmas music is played on high,
and animated figures usher in Santa Claus.
The grocery stores are filled with turkeys and hams,
with all the preparations for holiday meals;
while nervous parents search for the must have toys,
for Christmas morning and joyous squeals.
The churches have already begun the preparation,
with plays and pageants to celebrate the King of Kings;
choirs practicing Christmas songs of adoration,
celebrating Christ's birth and the joy that it brings.
The holiday season is around the corner,
and is awaited with great anticipation;
while thoughts of peace and joy abound,
as people around the world, pause for for celebration!
